Itinerary

Destination: Chena Hot Springs Resort, 56.5 Mile Chena Hot Springs Road, Chena Hot Springs, AK 99712

Join us on one of our most requested tours to the famous Chena Hot Springs Resort. After pick up, sit back and relax while being transported the 60 miles (97kms) east to the resort. Keep your eye out as you might spot fox, beaver, or moose along the way.

After arriving at the Resort, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the Aurora Ice Museum and marvel at the cool sculptures carved out of ice. The museum is constructed out of over 1000 tons of ice and snow. Have a seat at the ice bar on a caribou-hide covered bar stool or indulge in an appletini served in a hand-carved ice glass.(not included in price and photo ID required).

You’ll then be shown to our table in the restaurant where you can order some lunch or enjoy a hot or cold beverage at the bar.  The restaurant is ‘greenhouse to table’, offering salad, vegetables and herbs grown in their own greenhouse.  The  menu offers a variety of meals that includes Alaska grown produce from the Fairbanks and other regions of Alaska.
Please note that the cost of food and beverages is not included in the price of your tour and is optional.

Head on out to the hot springs and put on your bathing suit. There are lockers available to store your belongings (50 cent fee). The revitalizing mineral water will sooth those muscles with its warm temperatures of 106 degrees F (41 degrees C) year-round.

Stay in the hot springs, or hit one of the many trails around the resort where you might see wildlife, or just enjoy the beauty of Alaska’s great outdoors.

You can also take an optional tour of the resort’s greenhouse and geothermal plant to learn more about how the resort is generating its own electricity and aiming to be more self-sustaining.

Rejoin your group around 4pm and return to Fairbanks, keeping an eye out for wildlife and stunning scenery along the way.

Fasinating property and amazing hot water access TripAdvisor

We were given a tour of the property explaining all the buildings. The greenhouse is where they grow all their lettuce and tomatoes for the restaurant. There are several hiking trails to follow. The Hot Springs really felt good. Don't forget flip flops or shower shoes as you have to leave the shoes you are wearing in the lobby before checking in.The restaurant was excellent and the gift shop contained items they make with their 3-d printer onsite. We spent about 4 hours there and it was well worth our time.

Great Experience in Fairbanks TripAdvisor

We had a wonderful day at the Chena Hot Springs. We were disappointed the Ice Museaum was shut down. The Hot Springs was wonderful. The restaurant was great. All of the staff was friendly. The restaurant menu was extensive, and the food was delicious. We were facinated by the use of thermal energy used for the green houses and to power the resort. Our guide Tony was very good. As a native Alaskan, he was very knowledgeable and informative.

Kathy was a great tour guide, she made sure the trip was a fun and knowledgeable one. Throughout the ride to Hot Springs, Kathy stopped for Wildlife sightings and shared a ton of information about Fairbanks and things we saw along the way. Would definitely recommend it!

Amazing Day Trip from Fairbanks TripAdvisor

This was an awesome day trip from Fairbanks. The ice museum was interesting, and the hot springs were amazing to soak in. Our guide Tony was the highlight of the tour as he made the hour plus drive from Fairbanks go by with his stories of the area. Additionally he pointed out wildlife on the way, and even pulled over so we could see a moose. Overall a great day trip from Fairbanks.
